Frisby/Kilworth Work Party's

The work party took place at Frisby Complex last Sunday. Many thanks to all those who turned up to help, it is much appreciated. Unfortunately though there are still people turning up to fish whilst the work party is in progress. Please DO NOT waste your time as you will be turned away and NOT ALLOWED TO FISH until 1pm unless you have helped on the work party. This rule applies to the WHOLE complex being worked on. All other Lake venues will remain open as normal.

The dates and venues of the remaining work party's are as follows:

11th May Kilworth

18th May Frisby

25th May Kilworth

1st June Frisby

8th June Rothley

15th June Frisby

There was a good turnout of helpers at the Frisby work party (4/5/14) and a great deal was accomplished. The sunken tree was removed from BJ's Lake, along with other sunken branches/debris that had been causing problems on other pegs.

Smiggies was the other lake worked on with pegs being tidied up, encroaching weeds cleared from swims and once again tree branches cut back on both the fishing bank and the island.

Next week we will be at Kilworth so please come along and lend a hand for three or four hours...Much healthier than laying in bed!

The Work Party match was held on Colver with Den Porter winning with an outstanding mixed bag of Carp and Silver fish weighing in at 86lb 14oz. Phil Sansby taking the runner-up spot with 55lb 8oz of, mainly Carp, with a lot of fish caught in the near side margins.

Tudor tames Buffalo's

Tudor Jones had another good day at Kilworth, read his account, below...

tj02

Got to Kilworth Sticks at about 4.00pm on Easter Monday for a short evening session, had a common carp out of Admirals pool off the top but it was a bit scary landing it due to the amount of weed. I saw a lot of fish moving about in Buffalo’s so switched over and it really paid off.

I had a fish every cast fishing on floating dog biscuit, the best of the bunch was this fantastic ghost carp which put up a very hard fight. I had 19 carp in total averaging 4 pounds, not bad for few hours! As the lake is not very wide I was able to free line and still cast to the far bank where I picked up a lot of fish early in my session, later on I was literally catching them under my feet! Very exciting stuff!

Lakes at Rothley

It became evident at today's AGM that not all members are aware that Lake No2 at Rothley, (the right hand lake as you walk through the gate, the lake surrounded by trees) has very few, if any , fish in it. This was due to a fish kill a couple of years ago during the severe freeze of that winter. These lakes were an added bonus as Broome purchased the lease just for the River fishing. Lake No1 is still ok to fish. As we do not own these lakes there are no plans to re-stock Lake No2.

AGM Sweepstake at Colver

As is traditional there was a sweepstake match held after this years AGM. Vinnie Logie winning the day with an impressive 60lb from peg 14. Ian Watson made a rare visit, and it paid off for him, taking second place with 45lb from peg 25. Completing the frame was Keith Macfarlane, fishing on peg 21, Keith put 37lb 8oz on the scales to clinch third place.
