Away day at Peatling Pool
"B"
Sixteen of the usual Match crew decided on an "Away Day" at Peatling Parva fisheries Lake "B". A
very stiff cold wind was whistling down the Lake at the draw, but by the time everyone had set up the sun had burnt
away the cloud and the wind had settled down to a pleasant breeze.
Section 1 was the place to draw as four of the five pegs in this section won money, with all of
the top three in this area. Top of the tree was, in form, Vinnie Logi, Pegs 43 and 45 have been the pegs that have
been producing just lately on this lake, so it was quite a battle between Vinnie and Mick Nash. Mick Nash suffered
with foul hooked fish all day and if he had managed to land half the fish that he lost he would have won at a
canter! Vinnie, though, had a few less fish in his peg, and this proved to be an advantage as he could land more of
the fish that he hooked. Vinnie finishing first with 39lb 10oz and Mick's 35lb 13oz giving him third place.
Second place, on peg 33, was Den Porter. The first four hours were pretty patchy with just odd
fish being caught, Den had stuck to his guns and fished the method feeder for most of the day, this bringing him
five or six Carp. It was a switch to an inside line in the last couple of hours, and some on the bank coaching from
a suited and booted Paul Cooke , that proved decisive. A run of decent carp pushed
Den's weight up to 36lb 12oz for the runner-up spot.
Jim Shooter had the catch of the day from peg 6, Jim had just two Carp in his net, the other
28lb, or so, were all Roach! It was a fish a chuck all day for Jim and his hard work was rewarded with the Section
1 prize. It was the last two hours when Malc Spring saw all of the action in peg 27. With hardly a bite in the
first four, Malc kept on feeding an inside line and eventually the Carp decided to feed...Malc's 25lb 12oz taking
section 2. Keith Macfarlane, had a steady run of Carp in the early part of the Match from the Island peg, 37.
Keith's 19lb 2oz was enough, courtesy of the top three being in this section , to take Section 3.

Sweepstake Match at Colver
It seems that the Colver fish have changed there winter habitat!! It was always a pretty safe bet
that once the weather turned a little cooler the fish would migrate to the southern end of the lake, pegs 18 and 21
were almost guaranteed to win money. It has made for a much fairer venue, though, as none of the pegs can be
regarded as "no hoper's"
The fish have been seen all week in the late thirty's and early forty's and Den Porter carried on
his recent good form by pulling out peg 36 at the draw. Five hours later Den had a good, 34lb, net of Carp, and
also put some decent sized Skimmers on the scales to add another 8lb or so. His 42lb giving him his second win in
two weeks.
Keith Macfarlane was not far behind, on peg 42, Keith put 37lb 4oz on the scales to take the
runner up spot. It would have been much closer but Den had managed to find a bonus carp of 6-7lb which just gave
him the edge. Malc Spring made a rare visit, and made it pay with 34lb 4oz from peg 8, another peg that doesn't
usually produce much action. Malc taking the third prize.
Section 1 went to the Cormorant, Chris Shore, with 23lb from another middle peg, 10. Steve Kinch
was the only angler to "weigh in", in Section 2. His three carp and a Barbel, from peg 29, pushed the needle around
to 7lb 14oz for an unexpected Section win. Paul Cooke (battered each side ) took Section 3 with 26lb 7oz from peg 40.

Lost Tackle
Can anyone
help long time club member Jim Tolton? Jim was fishing the "Life Buoy" peg, close to the car park, on Meadow
Lane last Saturday evening (25/2/12). When he was packing away his gear at the end of his session he,
inadvertently, left behind his Delkin Bite Alarm. There was a member actually fishing the venue when Jim left,
so it is possible that someone might have picked up the Bite Alarm in order to hand it in. Jim is offering a
reward to anyone who can re-unite him with his Bite Alarm. So if you have happened to find it just send an email
to webmaster@broomeanglingsociety.co.uk and I will
pass on your contact details.
Thanks
