Fly Tippers strike again 12/2/10

The picture shown below is not what most people would expect to see on a fishing clubs website. Nor is it the kind of picture that we want to display. Once again, however, we have been visited by a Fly Tipper, who for reasons best known to themselves think it easier to dump their rubbish on us rather than take it to Sileby Tip; where it could have been left legally and for free!!! If anyone knows who may be responsible for this anti-social behavior then please let us know. They WILL be prosecuted.

Rubbish

Once again it was poor old Terry Branston who had to deal with the problem, and this is what he has to say on the matter...

I found these 5 settee cushions today (7/2/10) by the top last peg at Jurassic at 7am. I took them home and photographed them on my decking before I took them to the Tip. A couple of them are wet and mouldy so I dont know how long they have been there. This is absolutely disgusting, having to clean up after some members, who will not learn!!! It makes you wonder if it is worth the hassle having to clean up after some of them....I'm sick of it.

New date for cancelled Pike Match 9/2/10

The Pike League match that was scheduled to be fished on 10th Jan 2010 was cancelled due to the Icy weather. This match will now be fished on 7th March 2010 at Frisby.

This re-scheduling will not affect any other members as the Pikers will fish "around" any other anglers.

Winter League Match Change of Venue 8/2/10

The Winter League Match scheduled to be fished at Manor Farm on Sunday 14/2/10 will now be fished on Colver Lake. The venue has been changed because of fears that we may, once again, suffer from frozen lakes. It is thought that the ice, should it materialise, will be easier, and safer, to break on Colver.

We apologise to all other anglers but Colver will be closed to all other anglers on 14/2/10.

Another Jurassic Pike 5/2/10

It seems that the Pike are really "having a go" on Jurassic. With the capture of another 20lb+ Esox...or could it be the same one?? Grant Smith was inspired to go and have a Pike session after seeing the picture of Davids Caunts similar sized fish.

Grant Smith

Grants account...

After seeing Dave Caunt's photo I thought this is definitely worth having a session.
I caught a 22lb 8oz pike on Jurassic on saturday 30-1-2010 while having a session with 2 mate's....I used snap tackle with a sprat dead bait and in line lead

Thanks to Grant for sending in his photo, and story.

Winter League Match - Rescheduled 31/1/10

It has been decided the the 17/1/10 Winter League Match that was "frozen off" will now be rescheduled for 7/2/10.

The abandoned Match was originally on Colver Lake but the rescheduled match will take place on the two lakes at Rothley. It will be intresting to see how these lakes fish at this time of year, and how they respond to the "match pressure".

These two lakes will be closed to all other anglers on the above date, but the River will be available to any member wishing to fish.
