Stolen Crayfish Traps at Kilworth

I have received the following message from Water Officer Terry Branston:

Once again two Crayfish Traps have been stolen from Kilworth!! For the life of me I cannot understand why. Anyone using these traps must have a EA Licence to use them. All traps carry the licence tag, numbered to me as I am the clubs licence holder. These traps cannot be used by anyone else without them breaking the law.

These traps were purchased, by myself, for the clubs benefit. Up to now I have lost four traps, these traps are put out for the members benefit to reduce the vast amount of Crayfish that are in Lizzies, reduce the quantity and feeder fishing will improve.

Once again its a minority spoiling it for the majority. As I have said before, if any one wants any Crayfish for a meal ask and they will be purged and boiled all you have to do is peel them!! It is against the law for me to pass on any live crayfish to a third party that's the reason why they are purged and boiled.

So don't steal, ask. At the end of the day they are free as well that's what I cant understand.

Terry Branston

Sounds to me like an offer you cant refuse!!

If you do see anyone acting in a suspicious manner at Kilworth, or for that matter, at any of our Lakes, Please inform one of the bailiff's or a committee member. You will find telephone numbers in your membership book.

   October Pike Match

The first Pike Match of the season has been moved from October 12th and will now take place on the following Sunday, October 19th. This is due to unforeseen circumstances. The match will still be held at Meadow Lane Syston. If you would like to participate in the Pike matches, they are very informal and the usual Pikers will welcome some new faces. Contact Mick Geary if you would like any further information. Mick's telephone number is in your membership book.

Weed at Frisby

As many of you will know, Frisby is suffering from unusually prolific weed growth on some of the Lakes. The committee are well aware of the problem and are actively seeking advice on the best long term solution to this problem.

Sweepstake on Colver 20/8/14

The Wednesday evening sweepstake series seems to be going on longer than the Wednesday Evening League . Certainly the weights seem to be better at this time of year!!

Den Porter netted an incredible 106lb 6oz from peg 3 on Colver. He netted forty Carp by fishing shallow with dead maggot on the hook.

There were seven members taking part and the lowest weight was 31lb 10oz . Chris Crane's 83lb 12oz from peg 14 would be enough to win most six hour matches, but was only good enough to take the runner up spot this week!! Third place went to Keith Macfarlane with another good weight of 54lb 3oz. Keith was on peg 7.

Colver seems to be in great form at the moment so get on down there and put some fish in the net!! .

Sweepstake on Colver 13/8/14

With the evenings still relatively light a few Members arranged to have another sweepstake match last Wednesday evening on Colver. Den Porter drew peg 40 and decided to fish shallow on maggot. It proved to be a wise choice as he put 72lb 6oz on the scales for a convincing win. Jason Farmery fished his favourite method in the nearside margins to take second place with 51lb 14oz from peg 17. Section 1 went to Chris Crane with 37lb 12oz from peg 24, with Keith Macfarlane winning section 2 from peg 42 with 17lb 15oz.
