Frisby Work Party
(27/5/12)
The fourth Work Party took place last Sunday, and once again Frisby was the
venue. A good turnout once again got a lot of work done on our fishery. With the sunny/rainy conditions that
have been prevalent this month, though, it seems as fast as growth is cleared...the quicker it re-grows!!
. Everything is looking very green and healthy,
which is more than can be said for the workers after a hot and steamy morning! .

Getting to grips on Jurassic
After repair of the Hedge Trimmer,
the Colver Island was finally cleared of overhanging debris. The rest of the crew split between Jurassic, BJ's and
Sanctuary, attending to various jobs that, inevitably, start to crop up during the season.

Those Jurassic trees seem to multiply
every year!!
Next week the show moves to Rothley,
where, as anyone will know if they have been down there lately, that there is a lot to be done...So please if you
can spare a couple of hours come down to Rothley and lend a hand....You will be most welcome. As usual Rothley will
remain closed to all "non work party anglers" until 1.00pm. All other Broome still water venues will be open as
normal.
There will be a Sweepstake match on
Colver Lake next Sunday (3/6/12) for all Work Party attendee's who are interested.
Last weeks Work Party Sweepstake took
place on a very hot and sultry Jasons Lake. It was Jason Farmery on peg 21 who took the honours with 26lb. Five
Carp all caught in the shallow water up against the outreach were enough to beat Paul "Cookie" Cooke into second
place. Cookie also managed to land five Carp from peg 4 for 21lb 11oz....But at a cost. Dave Kimber gave Cookie the
dubious advice that the only way to get the Carp out of the reeds was to pull like Geronimo once one was
hooked....Needless to say the first time he tried it there was a loud CRACK....as three grand's worth of Maver
carbon parted company around the No6 section.... . Once Cookie had absorbed all the sympathy
message's from his good friends around the Lake and the tears had dried, he mackled his shattered pride and
joy together and in a rather gingerly fashion managed to land another three Carp for an expensive second
place!
Mark Aikins lost two big fish from
peg 1 but managed to land two others that took the scales around to 15lb 14oz! that was just enough to beat two
other similar weights and take the no3 spot.
Dave Kimber, obviously not following his own advice
, lost nine Carp from peg 6 that would have
probably given him 60-70lb if landed. But his three Carp and one Tench was only enough to take Section 1 with
15lb 12oz. Mick Farmery on peg 10 also fished in the shallow water to take three Carp for a Section 2 winning
15lb 8oz. Keith Macfarlane, peg 17, was the only
one to land any amount of decent Silvers... Keith caught nearly all of his 13lb 6oz in the first two hours of
the match for a Section 3 win.
