Broome Club Rules

Make sure that you familiarise with the Club Rules before fishing on the Broome A.S.Waters

All Broome rules have been decided or approved by the Broome A.S. Members. The rules are intended to provide harmony between all members and to protect the fish stocks, waters and the site owned or rented by Broome Angling Society. Please read them before you decide whether you want to apply for membership. 

  1. No member may serve on the Broome Society committee if he or she are committee members on any other angling society or club.
  2. Membership lapses on 8th June each year, but subscriptions are due no later than 1st June each year.
  3. Membership shall be open to people regardless of colour, creed, religion, sex or disability. No member shall be discriminated against because of these factors.
  4. Members may apply to members of the committee for permission to take a guest. Permission must be obtained in writing. One ticket only per occasion will be issued and no member can apply for more that two tickets per season. Seven day guest tickets are available at £10.00 or single day tickets at £5.00, all classes, throughout the year.
  5. A Members spouse may fish on his or her spouses Membership Book, provided he or she is accompanied by his or her spouse. No Junior Members shall fish free of charge. Junior Members are not allowed to fish unless accompanied by an adult, except in the case of juniors with their own parent.
  6. A Junior Member is a member who has not attained the age of 17 years old at the 1st of June in any year and is still in full time education.
  7. Any Member, on production of their own permit, may ask anyone else fishing for proof of their Membership.
  8. Litter must not be left behind. It must be taken home and disposed of properly. In particular, line is dangerous and is, on no account, to be discarded on the waters. Failure to observe this rule will result in automatic expulsion from the society. Every Member is responsible for the litter in their swim whether left by them or not.
  9. In each season between 1st March and 28th February, at the discretion of the committee, a trophy will be awarded for thr heaviest of each species caught by a Member on rod and line in society waters. Each entry must be weighed and witnessed by two other persons and details sent to the Secretary. Please return such fish alive to the water.
  10. The society accepts no responsability, nor do the owners, for accident or loss to any Members property or person or that of their guest.
  11. Any Member or guest interfering with owners plant or property will be expelled from the society.
  12. A special General Meeting may be convened if 10% of Members apply in writing to the Secretary and state the business that they wish to discuss at such a meeting. Notice of any resolution to be moved at an Annual General Meeting, unless recommended by the committee, shall be submitted to th Hon. Secretary by 14th March in each year and signed by the proposer and seconded. Any such resolution, unless withdrawn, shall be included in the notice of Annual General Meeting.
  13. The playing of radio’s etc is prohibited
  14. Dogs may be brought to the water, subject to the wishes of any individual land owners; provided that they are kept on a leash at all times and kept under strict control.
  15. The lighting of fires is prohibited as is the digging out of banks.
  16. All Pike 5lb and over and all other fish except Zander must be returned the society waters alive.
  17. Unattended rods/poles must be left out of the water and not baited.
  18. Surplus bait must not be left on the bank when you cease fishing.
  19. Keep nets must be of a size and design strictly in accordance with the regulations laid down by the E.A. All Members must treat fish with the utmost care, and release them at the first sign of distress. Carp friendly type nets to be used on Colver Lake. Silver fish must be kept in a seperate net.
  20. Parking of Vehicles at the society waters. (See parking info after rule 32)
  21. Membership Books should be carried at all times. Failure to do so will result in the person being asked to cease fishingand leave the water. Members must be in possession of a current Rod Licence and original may be asked for by Bailiffs.
  22. A Photograph of each Member must be affixed in the front cover of the Membership Book. If this is noty present the book will be treated as  invalid and the person will be asked to cease fishing and leave the water
  23. At all times Members should remember that they are representatives of the society and should behave as such whilst on society waters. Any Member bringing the society into disrepute of causing annoyance to other Members or members of the public is liable to have their membership withdrawn by the committee
  24. Members MUST NOT fish on swims reserved for matches on match days for at least three hours before the match is due to commence
  25. A copy of society rules, constitution and bye laws can be obtained on request from the Secretary.
  26. Bloodworm, Joker and all artificial baits are prohibited on all society waters.
  27. When fishing for Pike, fish used as live bait must be caught on the same day and from the same venue.
  28. At Hill Farm, groundbait is only allowed in swimfeeders and Pole cups.
  29. Boilies are allowed on Jurassic Lake, at Frisby, ONLY. Tiger nuts and Peanuts and Halibut pellets are banned on all club waters. Wafters and Wowsers are permitted as hookbaits only. This rule MUST be adhered to in the interests of harmony with all other Members
  30. No more that two rods per angler is allowed at all club waters.
  31. All anglers fishing for Carp on Jurassic Lake must be in possession of an unhooking mat.
  32. Barbless hooks only are to be used on all club waters except Flash Farm. The only exception is when fishing for Pike.

FLASH FARM, NARBOROUGH

Members are to park their vehicles between the cattle grid and the Farm, on the left hand side of the driveway near to the chicken huts.Mermbers must be as quite as possible when in the vicinity of the farm so as not to disturb the owners and their stock. Members are not allowed to leave their vehicles parked on the main road. This will result in Police action being taken as the main road is a Clearway.

HILL FARM, FROLESWORTH

Cars should be parked on th hard Standing Car park only.

FRISBY LAKES

Parking is allowed on the designated Car Parks only. The Main Gate must be kept locked shut at all times, after passing through.

KILWORTH STICKS

Parking in designated car park only.

Kilworth Sticks additional Rules

  1. No fishing on the Lake in front of the house.
  2. No one is allowed on the Fishery between the hours of 10pm and 6am.
  3. Strictly no parking or driving on the grass anywhere on the Complex.
  4. Noise must be kept to an absolute minimum in consideration for the house and the Industrial Unit occupiers.
  5. Parking must be in the dedicated anglers Car Park in the Complex and NOT in the Industrial Units Car Park.
  6. Any Crayfish caught at Kilworth must be disposed of, as it is illegal to return them to the water.

Rules applying to any Broome A.S. Fishing Matches/Competitions

  1. 60lb net limit. Over 60lb to 70lb will be knocked back to 60lb. Over 70lb and the net will be disallowed.
  2. Nets to be laid out to dry, as soon as you reach your peg. Nets not allowed to be put in the water until 10 minutes before the designated start time.
  3. Where possible one net for silvers and small fish.
  4. No floating baits, Boilies or Bandems on Home Waters.
  5. No cat meat on away venues and any other bait bans applicable to the venue.
  6. Seat Boxs must be on the Slab/Peg or as close as possible.
  7. If the grass, weeds or reeds etc need trimming then cuttings must be netted out of the water.
  8. No fishing beyond the next peg.
  9. Net limits (as rule 1) apply on Away venues too unless the venue has a lower weight limit, if so then the lower limit will apply.
