Towards the last hour the smaller fish seemed to go quiet so tactic altered yet again to try and attract some of the larger ones. This seemed to work as reports of Barbel and Carp being landed reached me. As I called time I looked forward too seeing the contents of the keep-nets.

As we weighed each net I was generally pleased to see at least 3 nice sized Barbel, Loads of the smaller Carp, Roach and Rudd along with Perch and the odd skimmer Bream thrown in. The weights were up on the previous session ranging from a few ounces to over 14lbs, everyone had caught from a few fish to in the case of the small girls over 50 fish and they all seemed as pleased as punch with their efforts during the session.

As I waved off the last of the children I reflected on what turned out to be a very enjoyable day, my only reservation being the lack of helpers apart from the same ones who had attended the 1st session. Yet again I would like to thank them on behalf of the Broome AS committee in yet again coming up with the time and effort just when it was most required. Also I would like to thank the Charnwood staff for playing their part during this event.

Lastly I would like to thank our usual event sponsors for coming up with some substantial items of fishing tackle. They were instrumental in making this years events very successful. The sponsors are as follows "Middy International" "ADB National fishing month organisers" and lastly the "Environment agency". Some of the larger items of tackle such as Keep-nets, Landing nets and Rod set ups we have retained for use in the future.

Well that's all for now, I hope next years events will be just as pleasing as this years. It will be if only we could get more helpers, I shall certainly be doing my bit to try and attract more of them after all some of us regulars are getting a bit past our prime...
See You soon

Regards Roy
