Charnwood Day One 23rd July 2010
Colver Lake
Roys Report
The 1st Charnwood teach-in took place as usual on Colver Lake on the 23rd July 2010. The
weather as always for these events was fairly nice albeit the catches were a little on the low
side.

The event kicked off early this year as for some reason everyone started to turn up at 8:30
just as we were setting up the lake, tackle and bait. Anyway after an hectic 45 minutes we managed to get all of
the children around the lake as well as all of the preparation for the event. This was a major achievement for
myself, the helpers and the Charnwood staff involved!

The fishing then proceeded with the usual hectic 1st hour where the job was to get everyone set
up and catching fish as soon as possible. Yet another achievement sorted.

We had to deal with what seemed like endless tangles as well as landing the few fish that were
caught. As we progressed into the event the fishing improved with the odd carp being caught along with the Perch,
Roach, Rudd as well as what seemed like an increasing number of tangles. As the event ended, it was clear that the
weights were lower than in previous years probably because we did not allow floating
baits.

The positive result of this ban is that we did not lose any tackle to Carp pulling in the whips
and rods that the children were using.
