Cost Cutter Match Report 29/1/26

This week’s cost cutter match was held on a bitterly cold Smiggies lake. The winner was Den Porter with 10lb 8oz, followed by Rob Smith with 4lb 11oz. Dave Hunt with 4lb 5oz. Section 1 winner was Rob Sargeant with 2lb 9oz and section 2 winner Steve Lee with 3lb 8oz. 12 fished.

Next week’s match is on Colver (silvers only)

Away Day Match 25/1/26

There were plenty of fish caught in an Away Day Match, at Peatling Pools, Canal Lake, organised by Keith Macfarlane. Paul Edwards was first with 67lb 10 oz from peg 7. Second was Graham Elliott on peg 13 with 62lb 13oz. Both of the top two fished long toward the far bank. Paul Slatcher netting 46lb 5oz to finish third, and last in the frame. Well done to all.

This week’s cost cutter match was held on Colver lake (silvers only). The winner was Chris Shore with 8lb 9oz, followed by Den Porter with 8lb 8oz. Third place went to Rob Sargeant with 5lb 6oz and fourth Rob Smith with 4lb 10oz. 11 fished.

Next week’s match is on Smiggies.

Pike League Match 18/1/2026

The Match was delayed a week, due to being iced over. The new arranged date did coincide with the Winter League match, so Jason and Mick Farmery didn’t fish this one. Regulars Rich and Dave couldn’t make it so there was only seven who fished. The weather forecast was for showers, and was damp and grey from the off, but at 7 degrees a bit different from last week’s temperatures!!

Unfortunately, the fishing report isn’t so great to elaborate on as the weather! With only three Pike being caught! and two missed fish all day. Jamie took first place with two fish, 6lb and 2lb 5oz Total 8lb 5oz. Second was Alex who had one fish at 2lb 10oz.

Pete, John, Guntis, Tomas, and Tom didn’t catch this time.

Total after four Matches.

1ST PETER 35lb 9oz

2nd DAVE   21lb 11oz

3rd JAMIE 19lb 7oz

4th GUNTIS 12lb

Cost Cutter Match Report 15/1/26

This week’s cost cutter match was held on Smiggies lake. As usual the weather was dire, with heavy rain falling throughout the match. Keith Macfarlane came out on top with 6lb 9oz.

Second Mick Nash with 5lb 6oz and third Rob Sargeant with 5lb 3oz. 10 fished

Next week’s match will be on Jason’s lake, if numbers allow (silvers only). Failing that Colver will be used.

Pike League Round 4

Because of the terrible weather, Round 4 of the Pike League had to be cancelled. The lakes were frozen solid!!

The match will now be fished on Sunday 18th January.

Knock up Match 11/1/26

A Knock up Match was organised by Match Secretary, Keith Macfarlane, to be fished on Smiggies lake. The promise of freezing weather, Ice breaking and the possibility of catching very little was enough to tempt six members to turn up!!

In the event the fishing was not to bad considering the conditions. Jason Farmery was the winner with 12lb 13oz from peg 10. Steve Lee claiming the runner-up spot with 9lb from peg 16. Third place going to Alan Smith on peg 12 with 7lb 14oz.

Cost Cutter Match Report 30/12/25

This week’s cost cutter match was held on a difficult Smiggies lake. Frosts over the last few nights has obviously had an effect. Top on the day was Chris Shore with 6lb 12 oz, followed by Rob Sargeant with 6lb 4oz and Steve Lee with 5lb 9oz. 9 fished.

Next week’s match reverts to the normal day, Thursday, and will be on Colver (silvers only).

Knock-up Match 28/12/25

Six Members fished a “Knock-up” Match on Sunday at Holly Farm, Trotters Lake. It turned out to be a bit of a struggle for all with the recent cold weather not helping. Keith Macfarlane took the first prize with 14lb 14oz from peg 3. Gavin Norton was second, netting 13lb 12oz from his usual spot on peg 40.

This week’s cost cutter match was held on Colver lake (silvers only).

Mick Farmery won with 10lb 8oz, Mick Nash second with 5lb 14oz, and Alan Smith third with 5lb 13oz. There were 4 weights over 5lb. Next week’s match (Tuesday 30th December) is on Smiggies
