The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is located on the right hand side of the road at the top of the complex and has a large carpark near to the stock pond. The Sanctuary has a very good mixture of fish, from small Skimmers to large Carp, little Rudd to good sized Roach and of course a nice head of Tench.

What's in a Name?

This Lake used to be known as the 'L' shaped lake for obvious reasons and when the lakes were renamed, this one took on the name of 'The Sanctuary'. The reason for this is because of all the lakes on the complex, this is the only one that did not need any work doing to it and it was decided to leave it and let nature take its course. But, after a few years, it was noted that at the back of the lake there was a swamp area that used to flood during the winter and a lot of fish were lost in this area when the water level dropped and they became trapped. So it was decided to back fill the swamp area and this would alleviate the problem.
