Jason Takes Chairman's League Final

This years Chairman's League Final Match was won by Jason Farmery. Jason, pulled out peg 18 and made the best of a good draw, taking the £175.00 top prize with plenty to spare. Fishing on Bread whilst feeding Couscous, he put 56lb 8oz on the scales almost doubling the nearest weight.

With nearly all of the money won in the southern half of the lake it was defiantly the end to draw.  Opposite Jason, Mark Akiens, took the runner-up position from peg 21 with 29lb 9oz. Mark started well but his swim slowed down in the later stages enabling Jason to pull away.

Rob Smith fed micro pellet over to the far bank and fished bread over the top of it. he kept picking off the odd fish and in the end his 22lb 4oz from peg 14 was enough for third place. 6lb behind, in fourth place was Gavin Norton who hooked a big carp in the first few minutes to give him a good head start in peg 9. Gavin finishing with  16lb 8oz.

On peg 23 Dave Kimber had struggled for a few bites for most of the Match and in the last hour had resigned himself to fish for silvers in an attempt to win the Section. However three carp in three chucks, on double pinkie hookbait, one of them an 8lb+ Ghostie!! propelled him up the field and into fifth place with 14lb 4oz. Sixth in the main frame was Steve Beckhurst on peg 1. With just a few silvers in the net Steve found a few carp willing to take his bread bait in the last hour or so to give him the last of the top prizes with 12lb 7oz.

All in all it was a disappointing match for most with Colver in a pretty dour mood. With a covering of ice on most of the lake at the start it was never going to be easy, and the draw was all important. It has been competitive league and thanks to Paul and Keith for making a good job of running it.
