Chris Takes Round One

As we move in to the autumn the Chairman's League enters the match calendar. We have an entry of 21 for this series, although only 13 turned out for the opening match on Currans and Lambies!

After what was possibly the coldest night since the end of last winter most thought it would be a bit of a struggle....and so it turned out for most!!

Chris Crane turned up a bit late and there was only peg 30 left in the draw bag. it turned out to be a brilliant tactic as he had netted five carp before most had even had a bite!! Fishing Long Pole with either bread or pellet on the hook, Chris netted another six fish to end with a match winning weight of 41lb 8oz.

Second place went to Paul Edwards on peg 7. Paul also used bread and pellet whilst fishing Long Pole and after a slowish start he started to get the odd Carp. At the all out he put 29lb 8oz on the scales to take the runner-up spot.

It was a close battle between Steve Beckhurst on peg 24 and Mark Akiens on 22 for third place. Mark had a bonus start latching on to a 12lb+ Ghostie in the early stages another two smaller Carp completed his day and his 14lb 10oz was enough to pip Steve by 3oz. Steve was going well after feeding a pot full of dead maggot under the overhanging tree he had a run of six Carp only to break his pole whilst trying to re-feed. A switch to the feeder brought another two small Carp late on but he had to settle for the Section prize with 14lb 7oz.

Section 2 went to Keith Macfarlane. Keith on peg 11 also fished Long Pole and put 11lb 9oz on the scales to take the Section.
